I admit to being a little jealous, at times. I have to get up and write before work. But my wife also gives me time on weekends, and I'm grateful for that.Ben Spendlovehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17715176546668792509noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6906146674694884906.post-31589757515518169032011-02-28T19:31:56.824-07:002011-02-28T19:31:56.824-07:00Re: Why there aren't more men writing YA...

But it seems that many writers of YA are married women, spending most of their day at home doing no job or part-time jobs, and so they can afford to write. Most men just don't have that time. There's more to this theory, as to why the women write YA versus other things, but it starts to get downright insulting.Jaimie Teekellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07845537262456320501noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6906146674694884906.post-16853560421390877392011-02-24T15:27:55.744-07:002011-02-24T15:27:55.744-07:00Well said! It wasn't anything horrible but, like you, it makes me cringe. Wonder if everyone walks around wishing they could either redo or forget their teen years?Caryn Caldwellhttp://www.caryncaldwell.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6906146674694884906.post-47496934607135176712011-02-24T13:44:14.266-07:002011-02-24T13:44:14.266-07:00Elaine, that's so true. I write for older YA (my MCs thus far are out on their own for the first time) for a similar reason, I think- that's when I made the most mistakes, learned the most, set my life on it's present course. I hadn't wondered at the reason before.Kelly Brysonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08324622421797199560noreply@blogger.com
